21-Day Blogging Marathon | Day 5: 10 Favorite Songs of All Time

I feel that music has a unique power of taking you to a different time. Today, I’m listing down my all-time favorite songs, along with a small lyrical portion from each song. These are songs that I’ve loved throughout my life, and the songs that I can go back to at any time, without getting tired of them:

1. Something Just Like This – Coldplay “The testaments they told, the moon and its eclipse”
Though a fairly new song compared to the other songs on this list, this song still fills me with nostalgia – it reminds me of a peculiar time in my life which is hard to forget. Another song worth mentioning by Coldplay is A Sky Full of Stars.

2. Take Me to Church – Hozier “There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sins”
This is one song that gives me goosebumps, literally each time I listen to it! There is an unusual quality about this song, which I’ve not found in any other song, even the ones on this list. The music and the lyrics - both are equally mesmerizing.

3. Turn the Page – Metallica “But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do”
Though I cannot particularly relate to the lyrics of this song, I totally love the roadie vibe of it, and Hetfield’s voice, especially in this one, is to die for.

4. Mine – Beyonce “Let’s get carried away”
Sure, Beyonce is known for better songs than this one, and Mine is not one of her popular creations. However, I love this song in particular for its offbeat style, and also, for Drake’s feature.

5. Hey You – Pink Floyd “But it was only fantasy”
This is THE song to listen to when you’re high! I love Pink Floyd, and while I have many favorites, this one continues to top the list.

6. Watch Over You – Alter Bridge “How can you love someone, And not yourself?”
I find them to be one of the most underrated bands of modern music. But their songs are absolute magic. Kennedy’s vocals and Tremonti’s guitar is a deadly combination. Which is why I have another special mention by them – Open Your Eyes.

7. 21 Guns – Green Day “Nothing's ever built to last”
I especially love this song for it’s catchy guitar chords. The Punk Rock band had composed plenty of songs that influenced me during my teen years. A few of them still continue to make me feel the way they did then (special mention – Viva La Gloria – Little Girl).

8. Demons – Imagine Dragons “Your eyes, they shine so bright, I want to save their light”
Is it just me or are there very few recent bands who still continue to make great music? Imagine Dragons is one of the bands that still play and create some excellent music. Demons - their most popular song - is also one of my favorites.

9. Beautiful – Eminem “Feel your pain, you feel mine, Go inside each other's mind”
I still remember my school days, when I used to idolize Eminem and admire his way with words. This was my favorite song at the time, and was also the first rap song I memorized. It seemed so easy at the time – looking back, I realize that memorizing and perfectly singing an Eminem rap is not child’s play!

10. Kun Faya Kun – A.R. Rahman "Karde mujhe, mujhse hi reha"
Rahman is the only Indian composer who has made to my list. His melodies and lyrics never fail to amaze me. Somehow, I always unknowingly fall for his songs. This one in particular is a devotional song, and while not a particularly religious person, I enjoy the lyrics too!

My opinion on - Inferno by Dan Brown

[Warning - Contains Spoilers] Released last year, Inferno is Dan Brown's fourth book in the Robert Langdon Series, the other three being Angels and Demons, The Da vinci Code and The Lost Symbol . Inferno isn't much different from the others, it was a page-turner like all his other books. The story takes off with Langdon waking up in a Hospital in Italy and suffering from retrograde amnesia. A female doctor named Sienna Brooks lets him know of his whereabouts and accompanies him in his journey which includes a sequence of interesting events, involving, of course, a lot of codes and symbols, and the story picks up pace thereafter. There are various puzzle pieces that Langdon needs to put together, which are made up by a ludicrous (also, dead) Geneticist named Bertrand Zobrist, who [SPOILERS] wants to cut down the population of the world by four billion. He commits suicide right at the beginning of the book, but not before creating a plague by the means of which he wan...

21-Day Blogging Marathon | Day 1: 5 Things That Make Me Happy

In the midst of the world locking down, and given the additional amount of time on our hands, I have decided to participate in a 21-day blogging marathon. This is inspired by the 30-day writing challenge on https://lifeentirely.wordpress.com – I have picked up some cool and interesting topics from this blog and customized them to suit my own style. Hope you enjoy it! Day 1: 5  Things That Make Me Happy  I like to observe all the things around me and I greatly enjoy the little pleasures of life. Here I am listing 5 random things that bring me a lot of joy: 1. Books, bookshelves, bookstores: I find books to be very beautiful objects. What’s not to love about them? The smell, the feel of the pages, the happiness they give you when they are neatly stacked on a bookshelf next to each other, arranged by genre, author or even color. The sheer number of stories and characters they hold within themselves, and just knowing that you can get to be a p...

Entrepreneurship in India

Editor-in-chief of MiLLENNiAL magazine, Britt Hysen, writes - 60 percent Millenials think of themselves as entrepreneurs, and 90 percent of them consider entrepreneurship to be a mentality. Let's take a look at the latter half of the sentence. Entrepreneurship as a mentality. This is what Entrepreneurship is perceived as in today's day and age. New, innovative and unique ideas are flowing everywhere, and those bringing these ideas to life are millenials, creative and fearless, looking for the double bottom line of making profit as well as providing a valuable service. Look back two or three decades, and the picture is completely different. It was a time when most college graduates were satisfied with the safety of a well-paid job, and didn't dare to look outside of it. Entrepreneurship was considered a phenomenon only pursued by the ambitious Steve Jobses of the world. So what has changed in the short span of twenty, thirty years? The Techno...
