This is the place that many 17 year old students in India dream to end up in. We have all heard stories about this place from our seniors, relatives and friends - stories so pleasant that one can't help but wonder - is life in Delhi University really that amazing?
DU, the heart of Delhi, is a university that is extremely difficult to get into, but even more difficult to get out of - mentally, that is. Established in 1922, the university started with a small number of institutes, and currently boasts a network covering 77 institutes and over 200,000 students. The university admits the most elite but diverse groups of students from all over the country, and has given us many notable alumni - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and our very own Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
So back in 2012, when I got an opportunity to study in this prestigious university, I gladly took it. I had the chance to study in the older and more popular campus of the university - North campus. Needless to say, DU welcomed me with open arms. In no time, I was hooked to the always happening, fast paced life of the university. I figured out, in my early days, what I wanted the next 5 years of my life to look like. And they were exactly what I wanted them to be - but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I was filled with a certain vigor, a certain zest for life, and woke up in the morning with a smile on my face, eager to hit the campus which was waiting for me.
I studied hard for my exams, prepared well for my future, got in touch with my creative side, and participated in all cultural activities as well. This is what DU does to you. Students in Delhi University are not simply students, they are socially, personally and culturally aware, sensible young adults, and they stop at nothing to turn their dreams into reality.
I will always cherish the last 5 years here, they have turned me into the person I am today, and I am sure that the university will keep up its standard of producing more such responsible adults.
